The duo you never knew you needed…
Who doesn’t want clearer skin? I know I do! With so many different treatments on the market, it can be hard to determine which treatment, or more likely treatments, can help provide the best results for you. Everyone’s skin is different, but luckily, we all bleed the same, which may be the secret to clear skin!
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a regenerative medicine derived from the whole blood in your body to help heal itself. PRP harnesses the ability to amplify natural growth factors used to heal body tissue, stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
By combining PRP with various treatments, your skin may improve more than using the treatment alone. One of the best treatments to use PRP with is Microneedling, aka the Vampire Facial.
What is the Vampire Facial?
The Vampire Facial is the dynamic duo treatment Microneedling w/ PRP. While each treatment on its own is wonderful for the skin, putting them together creates an even better result.
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment that uses fine, sterile needles to create micro-wounds in the skin. These controlled injuries help to stimulate the body’s natural healing process while boosting collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer, smoother skin.
By adding PRP to your microneedling, your treatment can become more effective due to the platelets containing growth factor and cytokine proteins. This skin renewal stimulation can then help speed up the healing process.
RF Microneedling w/ PRP
PRP pairs well with Radiofrequency Microneedling (RF Microneedling), as well. Adding radiofrequency to microneedling produces a thermal energy that helps produce a stronger healing response to thicken and tighten the skin. By adding PRP, the skin tightens and lifts while helping treat wrinkles, large pores, stretch marks, and acne scars.
PRP Microneedling Process
One of our in-house practitioners will take a blood sample from your arm and use a spinning tool known as a centrifuge to separate the PRP from the rest of the blood. Your aesthetician will then begin the microneedling process, applying the PRP to the microwounds to create collagen production and cell reproduction.
To reap the best benefits from your PRP Microneedling, you will need to limit your direct sun exposure as much as possible for at least two weeks and avoid tanning for several weeks before your appointment. On the day of your treatment, you will need to come in to your appointment with your skin clean, void of any makeup, to help prevent infection.
PRP can help treat a wide variety of skincare concerns, ranging from acne scars to sun damage. These treatments can include surgical scars, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, large pores, and uneven skin texture.
Side Effects
After receiving Microneedling w/ PRP, you should have a quick recovery. You should expect your skin to feel a bit sore and tender and for the redness to clear after a few days. In some cases, your skin may ooze, swell, produce milia, or induce a mild flareup of acne.
