This treatment might be the right remedy for you…
AWM Client (Before & After)
For years, whenever I’d look in the mirror, I always felt stuck. I had so much acne and scarring from neglectfully taking care of my skin for years that I gave up on taking care of my skin altogether. What was the point of trying to make the acne go away if it kept coming back?
It wasn’t until I learned that there were multiple products and procedures out there that could help clear up my skin in ways I never thought I could. I’ve done micropeels, laser genesis, and so much more. But nothing could compare to the results I received from microneedling!
What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that helps treat your skin through collagen induction therapy (aka collagen production). The treatment is used to help reduce the appearance of acne, acne scars, and even stretch marks by promoting the production of collagen, which helps your body’s skin tissue remain firm.
By pin-pricking your skin with tiny, sterile needles, your skin is being forced to produce more collagen and elastin, which helps your skin tissue remain flexible. With a controlled injury to your skin, your skin has no choice but to heal itself, helping to remove acne and scars and replace them with healed skin that is more even in both tone and texture.
Luckily, microneedling targets various aspects of your body. While we primarily use it for facial acne and scarring, we can use it on your shoulders, back, or anywhere that has a lot of acne, scarring, or stretch marks. Even better, microneedling can help treat fine lines and wrinkles, larger pores, uneven skin tones, and skin areas that have a reduction in skin elasticity!
How Do I Know If I’m A Good Candidate?
To be an ideal candidate for microneedling, you first need to make sure that you have good health. If you are prone to skin diseases, such as psoriasis or eczema, have any open wounds in the treatment area, have a history of skin scars, keloids (bubble scars), or recently partook in radiation therapy, you are not a suitable candidate.
However, if you are not prone to any of these risks, you are an excellent candidate for microneedling. We also consider you an ideal candidate if you have skin concerns that have not been treated despite trying various home treatments or dermatologic procedures.
Microneedling is also great for those who have darker skin tones. Laser treatments used to help clear up acne on darker skin tones can cause some discoloration due to the heat. With microneedling, there is no laser involved, making the chances of suffering from skin discolorations much lower.
What To Do If You Want Microneedling:
To prepare for your microneedling session, there are a few key preparation steps you will want to incorporate. Avoid the usage of any blood thinners before your appointment. The numbing cream will help with the pain, and taking ibuprofen or other blood thinners could cause you to bleed more during your session.
You will want to stop taking certain acne medications before your procedure, as well as any topical retinoids, as taking these can increase your likelihood of experiencing side effects.
Before your session, check with your esthetician on what type of numbing cream is being used. If you are allergic to certain chemicals or ingredients, you will want to make sure you are using a different cream.
What To Expect After A Microneedling Session:
There is minimal downtime with microneedling. It may take a few days after your session for your skin to stop being red and irritated, and you may also experience some minor peeling. Excessive peeling should not occur.
Make sure that when you expose yourself to the sun, you are wearing a sunscreen of at least SPF 30 to protect your skin.
It’s not likely that you will see results right away. It takes a few weeks to see a difference, as your skin will be healing. Microneedling is not a quick-fix solution. It takes time, and you will likely need multiple treatments to maintain your skin and reap the benefits. Most people will need 3-6 treatments to see a difference in their skin.
