When it comes to the face, everyone has something they’re insecure about. Luckily, there are many non-surgical treatments available to tackle these areas. If you have an area of stubborn fat, like a double chin, Kybella may be a great option for you.

What Is Kybella?
Kybella is a nonsurgical injection that uses deoxycholic acid to target fat cells. It breaks down the fat to reduce the appearance of the double chin, preventing any more fat from being stored in the chin. Kybella is a good option if you’re wanting a non-surgical procedure, as there are fewer risks associated. While it is FDA approved for the chin, it can also be used in other areas, such as the jowls and bra fat.

You might be a good candidate if you’re not qualified for plastic surgery, are not planning to receive any facial surgery in the near future, or are not pregnant, nursing, or planning on becoming pregnant in the near future. However, it is still good to have a consultation before you get scheduled to make sure you are a good candidate for Kybella.

How Are Kybella’s Results?

The results are permanent, though there is a possibility that fat could come back if you gain a significant amount of weight. You will begin to see results within six to eight weeks after treatment. The treatment typically requires roughly three sessions scheduled four to five weeks apart for optimal results.

Like any treatments, Kybella has some side effects. The most common side effects are swelling and bruising but can also include inflammation, pain, redness of the skin, temporary numbness of the injection side, trouble swallowing, skin ulcerations, temporary nerve damage, and temporary or permanent loss of beard hair. Swelling goes away after a few days or weeks. If you experience any major side effects, be sure to reach out to us immediately.

I Think I Want Kybella. What’s The Next Step?
If you’re ready to try Kybella, schedule a free consultation with our Board Certified Physician, Dr. George. She will determine if you are a good candidate. Make sure you schedule yourself long before any major events to allow yourself time to recover and heal.

Before your appointment, you will want to wash your face properly to help avoid the risk of infection. You will also want to avoid taking any ibuprofen or alcohol to prevent any bruising after your treatment.
